Mount Plymouth Florida is an unincorporated community in Lake County. It is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Mount Plymouth was once home to the Mount Plymouth Hotel/Country Club. Unfortunately, the golf course closed in 2007 due to lack of funding.
Built in 1926 for $350,000, the historic Mount Plymouth Hotel was the center of the golfing resort. It was the main destination for the area and attracted famous people such as Kate Smith, Connie Mack, and Al Capone. Originally, there were plans for four 18-hole golf courses. However, the real estate crash of the 1920s ruined that plan. As a result, three of the original courses were never completed. The historic Mount Plymouth Hotel was closed in 2007.
