Koria Kitten Riot is a band from Helsinki, Finland. Fronted by songwriter Antti Reikko, they combine alternative pop and americana with singer/songwriter influences to create a delightfully happy mix of music.
They have released three albums and have become a favourite live act in their home country. Their latest album, Songs of Hope and Science, is set for release on 27th January via VILD Recordings.
The album features the track ‘The Earth Will Spin Around’ which is a hook-laden song that was inspired by Reikko’s recent personal betrayals. The song also reflects on the idea that hope lies just around the corner and points out that things are not always as bad as they seem.
The album is a great addition to the band’s repertoire and offers an enjoyable if sometimes challenging listening experience. They have a real talent for making songs that sound like they are being sung by someone with real depth of feeling and it’s easy to connect to them. They have a knack for highlighting the weak points of humanity and reminding us that no matter what’s happening in the world, there are still plenty of reasons to be hopeful.
