About Koria Kitten Riot

Finnish indie-pop band koriakittenriot is fronted by Antti Reikko, and they’re a band that brings well-crafted pop songs with ambition and detail. They’ve sited The Flaming Lips, Elliott Smith, Wilco and early Weezer amongst their influences, as evidenced by their debut album The Lows & The Highs which is out this month on Red Guitar Music.

KKR have produced a record which is full of warmth and wonder. The melodies are delicate and beautiful and the instrumentation is a mix of virtuosity and ambition.

The first singles from the LP, Suits & Evening Gowns and Cold Cold Arms, are very much in the same genre as the likes of Death Cab For Cutie and Bright Eyes. They’re both evocative and sensitive and the songwriting approach of Mark Oliver Everett can be heard throughout.

Another track from the album, An Anthem From The 80’s, is a melancholic piece about long-gone happy times. It’s a wonderful piece of music and you can listen to it here on Boomplay now.
